I have to admit, I like the psu having a display to tell me how much it's pulling.
Dropped fixing my own PC to watch this, I need a break and a coffee 😂 it started shutting down and turned out to be my c drive, years of watching this channel has helped big time
A Fix or Flop episode ending with a diagnosis of "silicon degradation" is analogous to a House MD ending with the patient dying of "old age"
In the end, stability is more important than ultimate speed. Speed is useless if it's constantly crashing.
How do you even not check the CPU? You've mention CPU/memory channel issues in the past, could a bad remount be a cause to memory instability.
My guess would be one of them ram sticks are going bad. I would throw that Mem 86 Test up take out all but one sticks.
I wish more PSUs had a display like that. Doesn’t need to be that fancy but it would be great to know exactly what you’re pulling.
"If it ain't broke...don't try to fix it!" Words to live by.
hello greg, i have a little suggestion can you name the fix or flops like you used to do? (like season and the episode and the name of the series) Sometimes when i want to rewatch them or just identify the videos in my feed i have trouble because i can't spot directly if it's what im looking foor, anyway i haven't watched it yet but i'm sure it's a great video as always
Greg i love your videos...but what is going on no season or eps number
I also had issues with G.Skill Trident Z ddr4, my 2 sticks never ran right at their EXPO 3600. So I gave them 1.4v instead of 1.35v and they've been solid for years. They even took a small bclk overclock to 3800. Still fine. This is also my suggestion to the user. If that's not enough to run the advertised 3600, just go back to a lower speed and leave the voltage alone. 3200 seems slightly too pessimistic, I'd try 3500 then 3466.
Looks like a degraded memory controller on the CPU side. Some ram XMP settings push way too much voltage on the CPU SA setting causing memory controller degradation over time. Plus 4 dims of 64GB is taxing on the controller as well. The only solution would be manually tune voltage and ram speed and timings. I think the sticks are still good.
14:00 Feline Companion Break! 📣
1 million subscribers is on the horizon brother. Thank you for the informative entertaining videos and the help you do for the regular pc gamer.
It could be the CPU not handling 4x DIMMs at 3600
kinda wish you tested the xmp on 2 sticks of ram, but also it could just be the motherboard is the problem or the CPU's memory controller. i wouldn't always blame the ram but ram usually has a lifetime warranty
memory controller doesn't like 4 DIMMs ?
03:50 The thought of having to re-paste _anything_ gave me literal nightmares, and it's the reason I switched to building with PTM7950. It's worked out really well so far (although it can be a bit tricky to apply, depending on the build 🤔), and I don't think I'll ever use thermal paste again.
Thanks for your service! I know it's free but hope this helps getting a NEW RAM Kit or GPU in the studio!
Always love the Fix or Flop videos you do!
