Those dolls hina dolls are so cool. I would gladly keep them and put them on display somewhere. They can cost quite a lot of money too. When I was in Kyoto during a trip to Japan I visited a traditional Japanese doll store which made custom Hina dolls and bigger ones. As we where looking around we saw dolls which costed more then 600 euro's or even more then a thousand. When we saw that we felt like we where not supposed to be there as obviously we where not buying anything but wanted to look at the pretty dolls and the craftmanship. If I ever have enough money to spare and I go to Kyoto again one day I will surely buy a doll if the store is still there which I doubt as the owner was already quite old. He was working on a doll when we looked around.

Mika, yesterday I stumbled upon on of your videos of the abandoned countryside house while consuming my regular renovating-ancient-properties/homes content and I immediately watched the rest of the house’s videos. I adore your way of video making - you really take your time with each section and shot and it’s so soothing to watch. It’s not flashy and overstimulating like much of the content we see today. You can really watch and absorb your videos but also not feel bored or like you need to skip through - it’s captivating. You’ve got such a knack for it. You and Jesse (and Pancake, of course) seem so invested in this project and I wish you nothing but the best in what seems like a nice amount of peaceful chaos. The care you both have for each other and this journey just shines through! Thanks for sharing it with us 🤩

i love the Hina dolls, not much of a collector but I'm definitely a little jealous haha. i think the dolls would look so beautiful displayed in the house once you get it fixed up how you want it!

My grandmother had just passed away a few months ago, and she was an avid doll collector, and seeing those dolls reminded me of her they are beautiful and I hope you continue to take care of them. Also, it’s crazy to think that there were still space left unexplored after all this time.! Haha

For some reasons, the gardening parts of these videos always feel... i'm not sure how to describe it. It's relaxing, yes, but it triggers something in my soul. Inspiration ? I don't know. It's like I'm seeing you work the nature into a new form. I always feel a sense of wanting to become more resilient, more malleable, like the nature takes new forms again and again. I want to be more in touch, see more horizons. Maybe a bit too poetic lol but it really does feel like some kind of spiritual experience. Thanks for sharing your journey, as always !

11:17 As satisfying as it is to watch tractors till soil, I’d recommend trying no dig/no till methods for your space! Because it’s a substantial area it will be easy to seed a cover crop and let that grow to become mulch until you’re ready to form it into your dream plot. I’d recommend Hairy Vetch, oats and peas to rejuvenate your soil. A well mixed cover crop is pretty, pollinators love it, and if you want to clear it out before it dies on its own, it’s much easier than the tough Japanese weeds. Plus it won’t need much watering and you can focus on the house for a while! It’s cheap, easy and makes great soil! We did it with our tanbo, highly recommend. :)

Those are a nice set of hina dolls... reminds me of the manga and anime My Dress Up Darling and its main male protagonist, Wakana Gojo, who is an apprentice hina doll maker under his grandfather.

Those little brass hinges sticking out of the cabinet are a clue that it’s a door not a panel. The squared door shape panel is also a clue.
