I’d give Mikel a new contract. He’s done well for his first managerial post. He’s made some mistakes but the team quality is unrecognisable from what he inherited. He’s been fortunate that he’s kept his top players, arsenal historically don’t get to do that. It’s to his credit that his players want to stay and play for him. He manages to pull a lot of media attention onto himself and away from his players. I respect that. The momentum he’s built it feels like the team can challenge for the league for the next 3 seasons at least before any rebuild would be needed. He was let down in summer 2025 by the club who didn’t get him the players he needed to push, and that caused the pain of last season which was avoidable as Liverpool really were not that good and City collapsed. It will be a tricky summer this year with the World Cup but Berta is going to be invaluable in getting fresh blood in. The squad was still too thin this season. We had no striker again for about 4 weeks which is unacceptable. People forget he was bedding in Zubi, Havertz’s and Eze this season plus Hincapie & Madueke. That’s a lot of new players to gel. by start of 26/27 season we need to have a squad that arteta fully trusts to rotate. Premier league is so so hard compared to other leagues and an extra domestic cup. This season he’s not used Norgard presumably because he doesn’t trust him, when he’s turned to Jesus he’s just not at the level anymore and Odegards had lots of injuries and his form has been dipping for two seasons now. Squad needs strengthening for next season.
