This is the true story of Bayern and Oliver Kahn's 1999 failure in the Champions League final against Manchester United, and their subsequent quest for redemption in 2001 against Valencia.

“As a goalkeeper, you are always alone. You are the last line of defense. If you make a mistake, it’s a goal, and the whole world sees it. The psychological pressure is immense, and no one else on the pitch truly understands that isolation except the man in the opposite goal.” -_Attributed to Oliver Kahn_

Canizares mother died before the match and Kahn went there to consolate him not only for the loss, but also because of that death.

Wow, I didn’t expect the ending. I thought for sure that he was going to lash out at the opposing goalie.

As a goalkeeper, Khan was my favourite as a youngster. His passion, athleticism and pure madness were very entertaining.

I was the goalie in my school days some 15 or so years ago and let me tell you, when a goal goes in, it doesn't matter if everyone infront of you messed up and leave you isolated, you're getting all the heat. Even from the same midfielders and defenders that let you down. Don't even get me started on the fans in the stands. That was a rough time 🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲

I had never seen football stories told this way: documentary-styled past events condensed in a YT short and from a different yet extremely engaging perspective. Great channel! ❤

Kahn also suffered so many heartbreak losses in his career as well. My ManUtd had a magical night in 98-99 over Kahn. He is a respectable captain and football player.

Never have been this early.. Amazing video! You're one of the only sources I have for sports videos and controversies, and wholesome moments like these. Thank you David for enlightening my day whenever I stumble upon you.

Respect to all goalies, I'm a defender and I have so much respect for my goalie

Being the goalie has to be most stressful position ever. If you miss an easy kick as a forward, it's okay because you'll probably have a ton if chances. Miss as a goalie and now your team is behind and the fans are pissed at you
