The reason Buffalo sings the Canadian anthem is because a Canadian won the naming contest when Buffalo was entering the NHL. Notice, they also use the Canadian spelling when it comes to the name "Sabres" as opposed to the American "Sabers."

I’m an Oilers fan but I’m supporting the Habs as the last Canadian team. If they’re knocked out I’ll support the Sabres as the next best thing.

honestly as a Leafs fan, although the Habs are rivals. I'll still cheer for them as a Canadian Team. However Buffalo hasn't been in this situation in a long time. So this series is honestly a win win situation for me. I just hope it's a good one, that's all i can ask for because the winner will be one I'm fine with regardless.

As a Slovak, I used to cheer for Habs only bcs of our boy Slaf being part of the team, but the more I learn about other teammates and chemistry of the club, the more I'm loving the team as a whole, so GO HABS GO!!! ❤️💙🤍

Another reason why they sang the anthem is because they are very close to Canada and they support them because the key bank centre is located 10min away from the Canadiens border

As a Canadian, I have been a Montreal fan since the Ken Dryden days and sadly, the past few games have been like watching paint dry. Shots on goal are pretty much non existent. They need a shot of adrenaline and get more aggressive.
