Those brakes are the most corporate German creation I have ever seen. I'm assuming they won an award for that.

Holy shit, those servos are by far the most noisiest I've ever heard, even on a BMW!

Screw the actual bike story, the comedic value alone was worth it. "Michael Jackson fondle" I'm dying 🤣

When I got my 2007 1200gs, it had this exact servo brake system that the previous owner just had rebuilt because it failed on a trip. It was every bit as horrible as Ryan describes. So I pulled it out, sold it on ebay for 1000€ and rerouted the brakes straight form the bars and footpeg to the calipers. Not-linked style. This was the best performance modification I have ever done to any bike ever. Brakes are now much stronger, you can actually modulate them and they give feedback. Also reduced the bike weight by 5kg. That's like Akrapovic paying you 1000€ to fit their full titanium system :D

I have never seen Ryan so worked up. It took a real marvel in over-engineering failure to get him that angry.

Ah the r1150 series servo ABS, what a joy to ride that one was. Mine arrived faulty from the auction and the failure mode was, dare I say, peculiar. Braking hard triggered an error lamp to light up. Now I would expect a faulty braking servo to have an automatic bypass or chug along until it physically can't move anymore - as in, it is seized/destroyed - since, you know, brakes are kinda important. But no, the servo motor and the hydraulics were actually fine, the problem was with the unrepairable electronic control unit - and the error reset once I restarted the bike. Well, I once got the error light on a long and fast viaduct where I couldn't do that. So after a couple of minutes the servos just...shut off. And yeah, it was exactly as Ryan described - barely any brakes at all - only I was doing 60+mph. I managed to stop and restart the bike - servos fired right back up, as if nothing happened. Rode straight to the shop, had the mechanic rip the whole damn thing out of the bike, install regular brake hoses and bypass the light. Been enjoying excellent Brembo braking since, though without ABS.

The rant about the delusional production team that signed off on the brake set up while lurching down the road is one of your best shots/scripts to date. Bravo!
