You've reached the end
Heat was not the problem,UV was the problem.
Plastic gets faded by UV rays, not heat. Heat brings out the oils which plastic is made out of back to the surface, hence restoring it
Bro is selling watered down shoe polish.
Ive been using Cerakoye wipes.. made my 10 year old trucks plastic look brand new, beads water and looks still new 3 months later
Uv and oxidation are what break down plastic, not heat.
Watch the Project Farm video (Sep 2025) where multiple trim finishes were tested. Cerakote was the clear winner.
Coconut oil works amazing and lasts for a long time. And because it’s used for cooking it’s able to withstand high temperatures. It replaces the oil in the plastic that is lost from washing and sun damage.
50/50 blend of boiled linseed oil and mineral spirits does the same thing. make a gallon and itll last years. I hit all my 4 wheeler plastics with this every 5 years. the colored plastics and the black plastics. works wonders.
honestly cerakote wipes are great and last a long time, like 6to8months or more... even parked in the sun.
Black liquid shoe polish does the same.
What I do is semigloss black spray paint. Do a good prep then spray. Looks fantastic and lasts a longtime.
Years ago we had some stuff called "back to black". And it worked amazing and would last longer than plastic did originally. The EPA cracked down in the early 90s on consumer goods and I believe the formula changed to be a maintenance quality item before they went out of business. I never see their products anymore
Would love to see a 6 month checkup with not touch ups or other products used. I would buy this in a heartbeat of it actually hold up.
Pro tip. Get a heat gun or even torch. Use the heat from whichever. Apply it slowly from a distance until you see it return to new shine. Been in the collision industry for nearly a decades and this has saved me many times. Only works on plastics and rubbers
Temu product with a different label
It’s caused by UV and the car wash! Car wash stations use low and hi PH cleaners to remove oil dirt etc. These absolutely trash plastics and clear coats and remove any wax applied to the paint surface. Keep away from car washes and your plastic will stay fresh far longer. My wife’s car is a 2017 and the plastic still looks like new.
This stuff works great. I've had the same bottle for a few years now. Doesnt take much and lasts a long time.
SEM trim paint is what I've always used. I've never found a better product that serves the same purpose.
the real solution is, not giving a shit. or use your fav brand of flat/matte rattle can, then throw on a flat/matte clear coat. it will last far longer and look and feel a hell of a lot better.
I use Meguiars black plastic restoration polish, works great on grey and black plastics and does a similar job to this just a tad more work
