Dad sells car to fund racing career, career goes very good, buys car back years later and gives it back to his dad. What a dude
What a top chap Dario is. I work for RS Williams and am proud to have carried-out the upgrades to his Vantage. He's also put the DB4 GT we built on pole for the Member's Meeting at Goodwood this weekend. Looking forward to the idol chat.
This sort of collection is a million times more interesting to learn about than seeing a pristine box with two dozen of whatever the latest and "greatest" koenigsegg, bugatti or whatever other hypercar is the trendy thing to own in it. Mainly because this collection is owned by a man who really knows his stuff and has a true passion for cars, and it's just a status-searching person who doesn't know what they're talking about, and just wants to spend millions for bragging rights. Dario is a real petrolhead with fantastic taste, and an unrepeatable life experience. What a guy.
That was by far the best 41 minutes I have spent on YouTube in a long, long time! Thanks Jonny and Dario.
Absolutely phenomenal. What a cool chap. That Rolls… I just love shooting brakes and estate cars, that thing is epic. Jonny, definitely one of the best caves so far. The highlight for me is the Singer, just stunning, the ultimate 911. Thanks for producing consistently great content, I dont often watch TV in the daytime but I broke that norm today and had a Sunday TLBS lunchtime sesh :)
This had genuine enthusiasm, thoughtful pacing, and room to let the conversation breathe. Sometimes, less is more. Congratulations to you and Dario for a captivating episode. Cars are time capsules waiting for someone to tell their stories
I think I could listen to Dario chat bobbins for 24 hours straight and still happily listen to more! Top tier SSG.
That's it. That's the car cave....just wow, fab episode Jonny, thanks to Dario too for sharing his stories. The nostalgia and the memories are what these cars are about.
If Dario allows - please go to the Scotland garage too! Epic episode one of the best, what a cool man cave! Loved it!
Love the Greg Moore poster… a wonderful man who left us way too early! I met Moore in December of 1997, and he was awesome. Glad to see Dario keeps his memory alive!
“Drove it to Monaco on a whim at midnight with my brother…needed a full rebuild when we got back”!!!! Absolute Champion!!
Jonny, you have become the standard for automotive icon interviews - this episode does not disappoint . My weekends are not complete without you - Thank you - WHAT'S NEXT?
Huge thanks to The Late Brake Show and Jonny Smith for the amazing episode featuring so many lovely motorcars - our Silver Spectre Shooting Brake is in excellent company! It was a true pleasure to see our work celebrated with such passion and detail by custodian Dario Franchetti and Jonny. Looking forward to the next one! — Niels van Roij Design
Grew up with Dario and Marino in Whitburn, his grandpa had the west end cafe and the ice cream van good old Albert he has passed now and has a pic of his lotus Carlton on his headstone, went through high school with Marino so seen all the fun cars back in the day flying about lol
The massive Greg Moore painting really hit home. Honestly brought a tear to my eye.
A car cave that’s all about the stories and memories he has with each car is the best kind of car cave. What a genuinely cool guy Dario is. Cracking video Jonny
The story of him finding, restoring and surprising his dad with his old 911 Turbo is more important than any of the other cars. Solid thing to do!
The Greg Moore painting is pure class!
Nice to see Justin Wilsons helmet on that shelve 1:50. I met Dario at Justins funeral, what a nice guy.
Dario has money and taste, not a common combination. One of the best 'my garage' videos ever
