With the wild and unprecedented popularity of Hollow Knight and its sequel, Silksong, the metroidvania genre is more popular than it has ever been, with many, many, new games coming out for this genre in the hope of leeching off this new "winning formula." That previous negative statement is aimed at lazy louts that are just blindly mimicking whatever is popular. I'm actually really happy and excited about this new state of the industry. We're seeing a rise in indie development, B-team studios, and retro revivals. So, in the spirit of this new age of games, I want to share with you 12 Dark 2D side-scrolling Metroidvania Hidden Gems That Flew Under Everyone's Radar. #metroidvania #hiddengems #underratedgames #indiegames #indiegamerecommendations #metroidvaniagames #2dplatformer #sidescrollinggames #darkindiegames #metroidvaniahiddengems #bestmetroidvania #indiemetroidvania #metroidvaniafans #underratedindiegames #2dindiegames #metroidvaniarecommendations #indiegamediscovery #darkatmospheregames #platformergames #steamhiddengems #bestindiegames #gamingrecommendations #indiegamingcommunity #metroidvaniaexploration #pcgaming

It's 2026. There is no excuse for a channel with 50k subscribers to omit timestamps.

Thanks for showing some games that I’ve never heard of (and some that I have been wanting to get)!
Ghost song and the last faith are the best..hoping for a new ghost song game
Wtf is that thumbnail?
There are way too many hack and slash and beatemup “metroidvanias” like this. I much prefer the real metroidvanias like metroid and castlevania: Hollow Knight, Rogue Legacy, Axiom Verge, etc.
