"Modeled the character after a dead guy" That dead guy is a legend buddy, and he played Musashi in one of the samurai genres definitely trilogies, to say nothing of all the other definitive samurai films hes known for, many of them Kurosawa directed.

That "some dead guy" is the legendary Toshiro Mifune. Dude acted in so many Akira Kurosawa films. And at least they asked the family for permission and they accepted. I think its awesome as an old school samurai film fan
