Don't ever argue with the lifeguard...he's there for a reason.
It's a great movie line... reality is this: "hey guys, you are not allowed to swim in the water today, see those tides? That's not something you or I can swim against. You and your kids will drown, go down to the other beach please!" Then you can walk off like an angry lifeguard

Safety often means being a dick. If people won't listen to you being nice, then be as big an ogre as you must to get them out of danger.
Even if it was a random hobo who told me it wasn't safe for my kids, I'd believe them.
The lifeguard was saving lives. No rules about being nice about it!
When my family first visited Oahu we went to a beach with big waves but they were all surf break and we were deciding if we were gonna swim and a lifeguard came up to us seeing that we were tourists and definitely can't swim as well as a local he stopped us and told us this exact line that there was a beach a couple miles away that was much better and safer for kids and we went and it was the best experience ever so gretfull to all the guards that look out for oblivious tourists to keep them safe the sea is infinitly strong and you will never win or hardly ever win a fight against it I found that out after I moved there and lived like a local for 5 years the best time of my life honestly

When i was in Hawaii i immediately went to the local lifeguard and asked where he recommended. He said like 100ft north. And i went dope thx and enjoyed the water.
