At this point, it makes more sense to install Linux on an older laptop with 16GB of RAM rather than purchasing anything new
It’s honestly criminal that we can call a $700 laptop “budget” these days, while a $1,000 laptop only having 8GB of RAM. 😑

Fedora on my old, 4GB RAM MacBook Pro 9,2 ran splendidly with over 9 apps open, includiing a Zoom call. I think it's a Windows thing.

As a developer, we or at least I don’t get paid to make things more efficient, most people just buy a new computer, but we will never be given time to make things more efficient as the company just never sees the value, as long as it’s good enough they don’t care

I'm using 11.4GB of memory in Windows 11 just sitting here watching this YouTube video on my desktop. I have no idea how any Windows laptop can get away with 8GB of RAM.
I personally feel that paying $700 for a somewhat budget laptop is the real issue...
