Interesting Fact: Looking for Alaska (2019) — The YA Novel That Became a Series With Unfiltered Emotion Looking for Alaska (2019) isn’t just an adaptation — it’s the long-awaited screen version of John Green’s most personal and emotionally charged story. One incredible behind-the-scenes fact is that it took nearly 15 years for the book to be adapted because every early script struggled to capture Alaska Young’s complexity. It wasn’t until John Green joined the creative team of the 2019 series that the adaptation finally honored the novel’s tone, themes, and heartbreak. To make the show authentic, the cast lived together in real dorm-style spaces before filming even began. They learned campus routines, hung out like real classmates, and built genuine bonds — which is why the friendships, pranks, and emotional conflicts feel so natural on screen. The set design also mirrors John Green’s actual boarding school, from the cafeteria layout to the quiet wooded paths. My best friend died because of cancer and leukemia, rest in peace king.
I'm a teacher and I had 3 siblings burn to death in a fire. It still hurts to think about their fear and pain after I saw their smiles everyday..
As a teacher I had a student that didn't come in and I got a call from the office to report up to the front and she took her own life due to bullying and her parents I was the only one she trusted I was planning on having the police take her out of the home and take her as my own and it was to late I miss that little girl so much she made me smile every morning and would always bring me a dandelion everyday
One of my friends from high school committed suicide, I pray for his soul, he was the nicest human… it’s always the kind ones….
Alaska is just about the coolest name I’ve heard this year. It’s running equal with JahMarley.
Three days ago a friend took her own life, let's be kind, we don't know the hell some people go through.😞💔🕊️.
I actually had a moment almost identical to this, when i was in yr 11. My best friend had just celebrated her birthday (early) with me only a couple days prior, and then her father drove their car into a tree the night of her birthday (30th may), drunk. She had been in hospital for a week, fighting for her life, and they wouldnt let me go and see her, because i wasnt family. 10 days after her birthday, on the 9th of June, i went into morning meeting, and our guidence counsellor addressed us all, with tears in her eyes. I immediately knew what she was about to say, i jumped up screaming no, no, no, no 😢 and just started crying and ran out of school. I went home, and balled my eyes out for a solid 2 days. I wanted my best friend back. At her funeral, our whole school did the guard of honour, as her casket was carried from the hearse to her grave, and "ill be missing you" by p-diddy played. I was the last of our guard, for her to pass, i stayed the closest to her grave, and i refused to move. Sadly, her father never got charged for her passing. She passed away 24 years ago, but she will forever live on in my heart. RIP Jean Louise Ruys ❤ Lord knows how much i bl00dy miss you beautiful girl. 😢
My best friend died in a car accident, he was only 13. rest in peace, kiko. P.S.: Guys, if Arthur wants to laugh at others, let him. I thanks for all your condolences, but if theres some people being mean, don't worry. There is always bad people, who laugh at others sadness. Really, no need to worry. ''Boo Boo cry.'' I want Arthut to come back to this comment and explain to me what happened. I'm depressed and I don't like his atitude. But if he doesn't see this, it will be the same as if he did.
My first love died in an terrible accident (1996) when i was 18 years old. He was 19 years old. The pain of that day never goes away, i still miss him...❤
this reminds me of a story it was in my middle school career I was dating a girl who was abused by her stepdad I tried my best to make her feel better my dad even made her feel like home as well I went to school one day and she told the teacher she couldn't handle life and how it was terrible to her and when she went home she committed suicide and she wrote me a letter I never got it because of her parents and by the time I got the letter I read it and it made me stay in my room and never even talk to people for a solid week when I went back to school everyone never cared about it they just lived life like she never existed it made me realize that helping people is what I should do and I have a suicide prevention club in my high school dedicated for people who need help

The comments made me cry more than the video....
In 2nd grade a classmate's Mother shot and killed him and his brother and sister. They tried to keep the facts from us but one of the kids found out and told the rest of us. I went home and asked my Mom but she refused to talk about it. I was left to basically try and work through it myself. Nobody was offered counseling, of course because it was 50 years ago. But as you can sense, I am still not over it. It was inconceivable to me that a mom could do that to her children.
GREAT book by John Green, “Looking For Alaska” it’s very heavy and an amazing read but I didn’t know there was a movie😭😭😭😭
Everyone but that kid in blue got the hint that she’s dead Guys everyone is saying it’s denial. But his tone of voice wasn’t denial.
A-am NOT crying! Just cutting onions! YOU ARE CRYING!
I remember hanging out with my bro one night. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary. Cutting jokes on each other throwing the ball around. That next morning he wasn’t at the bus stop. Go to school he wasn’t there. Come home walk down the street to his house egar to see why he skipped school and I was met by his father saying he took his own life. It still hurts to this day. He was my best friend, my brother. I wish I knew what was going through his head and why. I fucking miss you Theo.
