But around here, getting home is never as simple as pointing the truck south and driving. As we make our way across the country, we keep running into people who need a hand — and you already know we have a hard time driving past someone stranded on the side of the road. What starts as a long road trip home quickly turns into a series of unexpected roadside rescues. We’re changing spare tires, diagnosing fuel problems, dealing with fuel pump issues, troubleshooting engines that refuse to start, turning wrenches on the side of the road, and doing whatever we can to help people get moving again. There’s no shop. No lift. No perfect conditions. Sometimes all you have is the tools you brought with you, the knowledge you’ve picked up over the years, and a willingness to stop and help somebody who’s having a bad day. And we’re doing it all while traveling in the 10x10 with the Zacklift DWU. This military truck has become one of the most recognizable machines in the Murphys Diesel fleet. It’s enormous, unconventional, and probably not what most people expect to see pulling over to help with a flat tire or a broken-down vehicle. But whether it’s a simple tire change, a mechanical failure, a no-start condition, or a full-blown recovery, we believe the equipment doesn’t matter nearly as much as the reason you stopped. Help people when you can. That philosophy has taken Murphys Diesel all over the country.
