The rider's arm wound

Sports

Why do MotoGP riders have this scar on their arms? During a race, an unimaginable load is placed on the rider's body. Especially during hard braking or leaning into high-speed corners, this burden is concentrated on the arms. As a result, the forearm swells rapidly, and the pressure inside the arm builds up to its limit. Eventually, the hands start to go numb and grip strength decreases, a condition known as "arm pump" occurs. In the MotoGP world, even a slight loss of grip strength means dropping in position or losing the race. To solve this, many riders undergo surgery where a small incision is made in the forearm to release the pressure inside the muscle. The surgery itself takes a short time and recovery is quick, but this scar remains as proof of it. Only those who understood should click "like."
