In Cowboys & Aliens (2011), One of the reasons this movie never became a hit is just the sheer brutality of it. Aliens are ruthless, and some scenes are genuinely unsettling, like this one. It’s PG-13, but it hits harder than a lot of R-rated films. Jake and Alice are in their cabin when a spaceship abducts them, causing Jake to lose his memory and gain the alien bracelet. Alice is held in a lab inside the ship, where she is experimented on, vivisected, and essentially euthanized. Jake watches her di* before he escapes. The full realization of this memory happens after Jake takes medicine offered by the Apaches. The “4th Kind” was scary as hell.
Shit scared me as a little kid how it was tearing into her and how they killed people off screen but you could tell in horrific ways and how they made all the kidnapped people look hypnotized fucked me up for a bit lol

Love this flick. Olivia Wilde’s purpose in it was a little silly, I feel the chaos from the aliens stealing people would have been suffice enough for the conflict but oh well. I still watch it. This one and Jonah Hex were sick. Had a double feature dvd of the two back in the day I found in a walmart bin. Anytime I watched one side, I would always have to play the other after.
The aliens are us pulling the wings off of flys and/or burning them with a magnifying glass

I love this scene, but what makes it so difficult to watch is the reflection it forces on us. We do this to other animals, and seeing ourselves placed in that same position, prey in a larger food chain, makes it deeply unsettling. It exposes a reality we’re often comfortable ignoring.😅
This scene was brutal you just knew that whatever was being done was 😢 disturbing and sad 😔 pretty intense
