The End Is in Sight, and the Fertiliser Store Is Finally Complete

Autos and Vehicles

The end of the main harvest is finally in sight. In this episode we push through the last of the wheat and turn to the spring oats, with the whole team hoping to wrap up the bulk of the year and earn a well deserved rest. We are joined by Tim, a Claas combine specialist who travels the world setting machines up, and he explains why this extraordinary dry season has our harvest feeling far more like Australia than England, and the counterintuitive way you have to set a combine to cope. Behind the combines the work goes on. We battle to cultivate rock hard, cracked ground that is proving even tougher than last year, deal with a dramatic chaser bin breakdown, and finally complete the new fertiliser store, with all twenty four tanks now in place after years in the planning. We also take a moment to remember three good people the farming world has lost recently, who meant a great deal to us. From an expert's eye on a strange season to the last big push of harvest, this is another honest look behind the scenes of a modern farming business.
