Just to be clear ! 12 bit raw is the same as 16 bit LINEAR raw The Nikon and canon are logarithmic 12 bit, that is 16 bit linear equivalent

Glad I got the Nikon ZR new for $1800. I knew they would price this quite high, and I can't justify the upgrade to the FX3, which was already overpriced. But yeah, for Sony users, it's great; many have been waiting for an upgrade for Sony ecosystem users.
Do I want it?….yeah! Do I need it? Nah! I’m still rocking the ZV-E1, I know it inside and out, love it and it does everything i need! For YouTube it’s perfect. Great vid mate 🙌

8:24 saying it like that makes it look like 16bit raw is directly comparable to the nikon's ZR 12 bit raw. The comparison isn't really apples to apples. The Sony is outputting 16-bit linear RAW, while the Nikon records 12-bit log RAW. Those numbers can't be compared directly because they're using different encodings. Linear RAW needs more bits since the sensor data is stored linearly, whereas log RAW redistributes the available code values much more efficiently across the dynamic range. That's why a 12-bit log RAW can provide roughly comparable precision to a 16-bit linear RAW in many practical workflows. So saying it like that without mentioning linear vs. log can be misleading. The real comparison should be based on real footage on dynamic range, sensor performance, noise, compression, and the overall RAW implementation.
3:20 Just a heads up, this comparison is a little misleading. Sony advertises 16-bit Linear RAW, which sounds better on paper, but 16-bit linear RAW isn’t automatically better than 12-bit REDCODE RAW. REDCODE uses logarithmic encoding, so its 12-bit files have roughly the same usable tonal precision as 16-bit linear RAW. Comparing them by bit depth alone isn’t an apples-to-apples comparison.
If the same filmmaker had used an FX3 with the same lenses, lighting, and color grading, I honestly think most viewers wouldn’t be able to tell which shots came from which camera.
