As a former flipper, gut as much as you can w tearing down walls and all. This will save you money on labor and have it all open for electrician, plumber, other professionals. You can live in house with just walls. Also makes it nice to clean. Foundation first cause the house will move. Don’t need it moving on your new wiring, plumbing. Leave porches as is because they would be nice to store remodeling supplies in the dry.
You guys made the right choice. Your channel is probably gonna pop off now like crazy. The gardening community also likes watching home renos, crafts and decorating content. 📈

I’ve lived through 3 home renovations we did yourselves. It will always take longer and cost more but it is very satisfying. I might recommend a RV to live in so you can sell your house and get some cash flow and a porta-potty. They are not nice but it really is a life saver and you can focus on the foundation issues first.
Make sure you get a structural engineer to inspect the house before you tear any walls out. You have to make sure you are not tearing out a weight bearing wall. Good luck with your project.

Robbie, my husband and I have been renovating/restoring homes for over 30 years. We both watched, remembering our own enthusiasm when we first began so we understand your excitement, believe me. As veterans, we can now say that whatever you think you will put in both time and money wise, it will be much, much more than you ever expected. I agree with whomever said tear the interior walls down to the studs. Doing a lot of that work yourself will save you a heap of money. You will likely need 2-3 dumpsters for all the debris. If there is any salvageable wood, save it. If any of the windows could be saved to do a little DIT greenhouse, save those too. Once you get the walls down to tur studs you can see better where old door and window openings used to be. I also agree with getting a good general contractor in to look at that foundation to see if it can be redone safely and that should happen after the gut. Get an architect or download an app or program to design your floor plan before a single nail is placed. The ideas you have now may work out great but only a floor plan will show you what actually works. Without careful planning you’re only going to add to the mishmash that has already occurred. All that said, my husband and I wish for you a successful project and look forward to watching the progress.

As an old house owner, make sure you buy proper ppe, ear protection, etc. keep yourself safe while you diy
Just saw some comments saying to tear the structure down and live in an RV. Depending on how terrible the foundation problems are. And, if the foundation issues can be properly addressed. If not, the option to tear down and rebuild is always there. A new build could be more energy efficient and cost less than trying to fix a structure with a lot, lot, lot of issues.
Definitely a challenge. Are you sure just building a new house on a new foundation wouldn’t be cheaper and better? The acreage and location is what you really paid for so think about it. New plans sound good and Brent is right, it will be a ton of work. You’ve got the skills to renovate or to build a new house. But after you gut it, you might find too much structural damage and decide to build new for a more personalized home. Good luck with whatever y’all decide. ❤

Wow what a wonderful house and with all those windows you can start so many seeds!!! In your mom's room I would turn one of the closets into a bathroom so she has her own "apartment ".
