You should try to put rosemary and honey a pinch of salt. And that makes a great great cheese. Thanks ladys you have helped me to say I can do anything I want. ❤
Strawberry-honey goat cheese? Or maybe kefir (if you can remember to save the grains?) Not sure if that's a cheese only or the drink when doing it at home tho. Those strawberries look *amazing*. :)
Hi ladies! Would you ever consider sharing where you do store all of the bulk food containers? I live in a very small house, not classified as tiny, but might as well be b/c of the lack of good storage. I'm so curious how you handle that, b/c you're so thoughtful in everything else you do. Thanks for inspiring! <3
You gals are doing a GREAT job with your homestead; very hard working !! We absolutely LOVE your videos and ALL your kitchen and garden tips. Casey, yes.. you NEED to do what keeps YOU safe and healthy! We would also pasteurize the milk. From one nurse to another.. I beg of you to wear a mask of some sort when cleaning out the chicken coop. You don’t want to get some sort of lung problems. ( said with Love💕) Barb and Donna from Penna.
When I make yogurt, I put a small amount of the batch into a sterile 1/2 cup Mason jar and mark the lid “Starter - paws off” so my husband knows he and the fur babies can’t mess with that one. Otherwise, it would all quickly disappear. 😂 Thanks for sharing your flowers and your process!
Love that you gals do you and have no care for the comments of people trying to change your mind. FYI I got my yellow greenstalk.
In chemistry, one thing we do to cool liquids fast is run them through a long-ish tube that is coiled in an ice bath. The liquid can be moved via syphon effect, and you just need to keep the ice bath icy and agitated. If it's not cold enough at the end of the tube, just put a longer length of tube in the ice bath. I'm not sure how feasible this is with milk - you'd need to boil the tube to sterilize each time? Would be fun to try though 😅 I worked at an organic dairy farm for a while, and they drank their own milk pasteurized too! The freshest milk they drank was the stuff you take from the tank after the morning milking to the breakfast table 😋 The invention of pasteurization saves a lot of lives each year!
You're right, wood shavings are great for bedding IF using deep litter method and just taking them all out periodically to put in the compost. If you want to poop scoop, they're just not great. I'm interested in hearing your review on the coffee grounds as bedding in a month or two! You shouldn't have to pay for grounds though... Hit up a couple of the coffee shops on your way to/from town with a sturdy bag when they're not slammed (ie not morning rush). It will have coffee filters in it, but they're easy to pick out and throw in the compost as you spread the grounds. Coffee shop grounds will not be dry, but they dry pretty fast in a wheelbarrow (1 day in the sun is enough). If you call ahead, the shops will normally be happy to save up a few days for you. Independent places are easier to work with than chains, but chains will too. I use them all the time in the garden and as an easy "green" in the compost 😊
Casey...you are so correct. Its too dangerous for a trouble tummy like my own. Pasteurized is definitely the way to go!! I love you ladies.
I enjoy watching your channel. You ladies are very informative and teach me a lot about Homesteading
Big thumbs up for your pasteurizing rant. I'm a microbiologist and I'm here to tell you, raw milk is not worth the risk. Love you both. <3
My fave’s part of this whole video is “thank you for listening have a nice day “ love it …..thank you for sharing your life and all the great things you do in it I’ve learned so much ….❤
Casey is so funny and cute on how she snap back on video's comments..😂 but anyways I'm just saying don't want Casey snapping back .but maybe u can build a kind of tall cabinet storage outside by ur house..to store all containers of flour and sugars cans..nothing expensive..that way it's just for food storage only .and just put a lock on it..u can also do it for chicken coop.. goats..cats u know they all have they own storage.and just put some of that wire around it that predators can't chew threw it..ijs just something I was thinking about .u can also put it behind it .not seen..more room for other things out of the tiny home..have a blessed day ladies❤❤
As long as yall enjoy the flowers/plants then they aren't a waste ❤
I made a summer salad a little different. I dressed my bowl of arugula then I sliced my strawberries and one inch cubes of watermelon topped with feta cheese or goat cheese. It is delicious. I dress my arugula with olive oil and salt that's it. Try it . I think you will love it. Love you guys 😊
you know the those little bags you're adding to your long-term storage containers? the reason the used one is heavy is due to increased water content. they don't absorb oxygen, they absorb moisture. i *think* they're they're meant to prevent clumping and mold, but don't quote me on that LOL~
You might also consider kefir for the milk. Probiotics plus!! 😋 Great for smoothies too!
King Arthur is my go to brand for wheat flours, but I prefer Bob's for basically every other grain and their 1 to 1 GF flour is the best substitute I've tried.
Herby ricotta meatballs…..look for the recipe! So delicious and helps get through some of the dairy products!
Lovely videos! Thank you for all your effort to have two videos out. It was a real treat!
