A wonderful neighbor who had been gardening for years once told me - the 1st year she sleeps, the 2nd year she creeps, and the 3rd year she leaps!
I'm 38 and finally retired, making $25k every two weeks. But truly, having a supportive family through it all is the real blessing. Thanks for the extra motivation today!
you should silicone caulk around the hardware youre installing into the stucco so moisture doesnt get inside.
If I were you I would take out the tile from the ground on the other side and plant a Jasmin there in the ground too. So it grows from both sides.
Watch the Dig,plant, water repeat video:start jasmine espalier. She grew that less than 3 years and she is in your garden zone. 😊
You can put the string lights on, while you waiting for yasmine climbing up ;)
Maybe find a rectangle planter for the left side and plant 2 Jasmine plants. One on each side so it fills in faster.
Growing vines any kind against your house can cause damage, we moved into a house that had it and it was growing into the house itself, it can burrow into stucco or wood and it is really a lot of work to fix
Star jasmine is gorgeous . Great Choice! I am in Portland OR and I planted it 20 years ago. LOVE! 3 years will come fast. Enjoy the process of watching it grow and helping it twine around your wire trellis. You will have to train it and prune it every year in your application over the door. It is evergreen even in a partially shaded spot. It with grow toward the light which is up and over your door. I am so glad you planted it in the garden bed. DO NOT use artificial light. Plants are smarter than we are.. It will go towards the light. It may not bloom as prolificlly in a partially shaded area but it will flower. I have mine in full sun and partial shade and I love it in both situations. I love how you embrace new projects and learn new things. I hope my advice is helpful. I always enjoy your content.❤ I look forward to watching your vine grow .
Wouldn't it grow faster if you put a pot on each side?
I'm wondering if you could have installed the trellis in stages as the plant grows? The garage and shutters look so pretty to now have wire in between them with no greenery. Just a thought, I know it will be beautiful when the plant matures
By the time the jasmine has covered the majority of the trellis, Cade would be 5. 😄🤩
You can get replacement clips for the overalls. They are iconic! 💛😊
I really like the pattern, dimensions you ended up with on the trellis, it looks good. Better to thin your tree (for light) rather than topping it. Topping is hard on trees and will make it grow thicker. If you thin, it will let a beautiful, dappled light through and you won't risk killing your tree (eventually).
Gardening teaches us patience! Plants sleep the first year, creep the second year leap the third year! Edited to say - watch Dig Plant Water Repeat's videos on star jasmine on a trellis (like what you are doing)
I was just in Italy and they have star jasmine everywhere and a lot of the jasmine was growing out of very tiny pots and the jasmine was glorious.
Omg! Jasmines are going to smell so good! Nice choice
I had a star Jasmine, the kind with the thick leaves and it bloomed prolifically, but outgrew its very large pot within a year and a half and ended up having to give it to a friend who planted it in the ground and was much happier. So keep in mind if you do put it in a pot. You’re gonna have to pot it up in a very short period of time because it has a prolific root system.
A simpler way, small eye hooks (screw eyes) and fishing line. Hope you won’t get moisture going through that stucco. Maybe caulk?
You didn't see many pansies because those are typically a fall/winter/spring flower in warmer zones and they don't like the heat of summer. The jasmine will be beautiful on the garage!!
