Wasn't EA also responsible for that Star Wars Battlefront II debacle a decade or so ago? Didn't they monetize progression in that game through like randomized loot boxes? I think they did. And I think, when everyone rightly complained about it, EA's response was something like "our intention was to give players a sense of satisfaction and reward." This whole thing reminds me exactly of that. I regret buying the game now, but it's too late. The game itself does seem like a step up over 26, so it's very unfortunate EA has chosen to engage in these scummy monetization strategies.
