Generation kill was the most realistic military series about Iraq war I’ve ever seen. Incompetence everywhere. Accomplishing nothing
"These Americans killed a lot of sand" 😂😂
I guess that town got one hell for a show😂
When you’ve been awake for days and it’s night time you see some weird shit in the army 😂
Like the other guy said, 11,000 pounds of bombs is nothing lol. Especially since they said like what, 140 tanks?! And you send 11k bombs only!!
It's lucky that in this screw up the Marines called in an air bombing mission on a target they screwed up in actually ranging correctly. The Lt brought down Air Fire on a "tank column" 15 km away, while the other guy correctly identified it as a town being 30 km to 40 km away. That town is real lucky, that the LT is too incompetent to target them properly.
Reminds me of my deployment with second platoons LT. calling a flare dead over us at night because... i dont know what he was thinking....
A guy i worked with who became a good friend was a Recon Marine in Desert Storm, he told me about Generation Kill, said it was like they were filming the actual 'war'. After I watched it, I asked him, 'it couldn't have been THAT bad, right?' He said 'No, it was worse, but thats as accurate as you're ever gonna see' 😂 - Awesome guy, funny and honest, talked me out of joining. But thanks to everyone who did serve, you have my respect.
"I wonder why they despise us?"
Wait is that Ziggy??
They cut it out of this edit, but in the show Sgt Colbert says that the illusion of target movement is being caused by the involuntary movements of their own eyes. He knew to factor that into his thinking but the less experienced (and very sleep deprived) Marines did not.
Capt heard a constant rhythmic duc duc duc from a water pump and commented on how the Marines across the river were really giving hell in a fire fight. We were all wondering what the hell he was talking about until Doc told him "sir that is a water pump"
Spotting shit at night is a pain. Lights are hard to ID. One of them things people think "how do you screw that up" then they screw it up themselves. But calling in an airstrike before properly figuring out what you're looking at is just insane.
So im a merchant mariner and when we are out on the ocean there is just nav light out there i can see how it would be easy to misjudge distance and movement from stationary light targets line of sight is about 20 nautical miles but you can see light omjust over the curv of the earth
11,000 lbs of bombs is spit in the ocean. Trust me, I used to build them.
Check the map for a town maybe?
This is how stupid american soldiers were, and these were the best trained generation of marines since vietnam.
140 tanks. Assuming 14-20 tanks per company and 3-4 companiesper battalion: he just reported that he was facing 3-4 battalions. That would have been the bulk of Iraq's armor in one map dot. 😂😂 Intel should have told him to stop playing on the radio and go to bed.🤣🤣🤣
11,000 pounds of bombs is like 6 bombs
We could have been overrun.😂😂😂
