Now there is no reason to stop for 2 items at the start for triple mushrooms and star, also known as "bagging" at the start. My experience so far with the updated items at the start has been: go forward to top 3 places, get Triple Mushrooms, get my Triple Mushrooms stolen by a Boo, get hit by a Red Shell, get mariokarted to bottom place, start bagging.
