A little tip from a machinist. Our large CNC machines use belt drives all over the place which would require days, if not weeks of maintenance to replace if they snap. So what we do is lay some extra belts around the shafts and zip-tie them out of the way. That way if the belt snaps, we don't have to take the shaft out to slip a new one around it. Rather than a week of work, it's maybe an hour or two.
Now that's _cutting-edge_ technology.

Interesting that the more convincing the motion gets, the worse a small timing error feels, since your brain expects the feedback to line up perfectly.
