After one year & 13,000 miles I am unhappy with my van build. Things need to change. I take on a full renovation of the inside of this MAN TGE 4X4 camper van. Great improvements! My suggestion would be to make the butchers block lockable. One harsh stop and it'll fly through the van 😱
I have been living in vans for 40 plus years and work as a carpenter and you have done great stuff in that van. a van will never be finished it is not a photograph it is a living being and like a marriage you must evolve with your van through the good times and the bad. 5 stars my freind
That sink cover is a work of art! Really nice!
I like the sliding bench top turned out well, the only minor detail i would address is a stop to prevent it from sliding forward when to you apply extra braking whilst driving, great video well done
Butcher's block is amazing! I think we need to see a proper tutorial on how to present your work with smooth hand gestures. Very nice.
Who doesn't love a Tom Heaton van video! No one
Mad skills. Good job Thomas!
24:29 that thing slided perfectly in place 9 times in this video. I think this man is proud of his hard work. Bravo!
"A completely silent van" (no squeaking) - Didn't realise this was a comedy show ;-)
I love the natural look of your build. Minimalistic, clean lines. Everything in a camper is a compromise of sorts, but I think you've done a cracking job. I'd feel gutted too if I had dropped a mitred joint and spoiled the edge! Agree with other comments though about securing the butcher's block when driving. A great job. Thanks for sharing!
Sink cover is pure genius!
25:20 I'm especially impressed with your attention to detail: you've routed out space for the base of the tap so the cutout in the sliding board would be as narrow as possible nicely enveloping the tap column. It looks like the sliding board - if not anything else - is going to be a great fidget (you might purchase spare runners ahead of the game...😁😁) It must be highly satisfying when your hard work and planning brings desired results. Well, accomplished photographer AND skilled diy-er... Many, many miles of squeak free travels (from your passionate comments in the video i can tell that squeaking was really threatening your mental wellbeing..😂😂) Thank you for great video.
Our favorite van builder is back! :) Loving the sink cover (and the rest of the changes); meticulous design and really good carpentry. Used a lot of carpet, foam and deadening material in my older vehicles too to quiet them down; I just don't have Tom's ability to craft such elegant cabinetry.
A star for woodworking
Looks great. Backup career if photography gets old?? 😄
Looking great. Well done.
It is absolutely luxurious! The way the sink cover eases into its resting spot is so satisfying, and beautiful. Your final presentation looked like you were casting a no-squeak spell on everything. I think it worked!
Every time you use the brakes, expect that sink cover to shift and bounce back to create more annoying noise.
Anybody else think the top of his fridge was a flatbed scanner at first? What a skilled craftsman.
I swear that the only time a grown male adult gets excited about a new kitchen oak worktop, is when it’s going in the back of a van conversion…. Nice one Tom, I really admire anyone who tackles their own van conversion like this, I can appreciated your pride in it. “Keep on Trucking”!
