We're heading to the point where the entire move leading up to any and every goal at the WC gets routinely checked. This is separate to the original purpose of VAR which was to clear up 'clear and obvious errors'. The problem with players going to ground after contact is that there is evidently a lot of it being practiced; all the top leagues tell their players to go down even if the contact was minimal. This has been evident across the tournament. Spotting the force involved in a contact which would genuinely cause a player to fall, versus unnatural falling if the contact is minimal, is becoming a nightmare.
I felt sorry for the Netherlands back years in FWC Qatar 2022 after they eliminated by Vargentina, they can't even hide it anymore.

Having watched it I agree with Egypt that there was inconsistency. I felt the disallowing of their second goal was soft. And I am in no doubt that had the situation been reversed and Messi had been brought down in the Penalty area before Egypt went on to score then the outcome would have been a penalty to Argentina and a disallowed goal. Apparently VAR did not look at that nor the shirt pull by Macallister either!! Messi similar challenge to Balogan was also not viewed similarly. It's no surprise these questions are being asked.

Well done Egyptian FA. The robbery must be called out. But I don’t think FIFA will do anything, Algeria did the same thing but FIFA only blamed VAR assistant. This World cup is damaging the image of the Argentina and proving those right who said 2022 was rigged.
