I think it's even more funny that Pinocchio's nose grew a lot when he said the research is faulty AND that he doesn't know the answer to anything they were saying. That means that the lie could potentially also be that "he didn't know the answers to the questions". Conclusion: Pinocchio is omniscient, and knows all the secrets of the universe and the answers to them.
