It’s truly impressive how modern studios can have all the talent in the world, spend billions, and still fundamentally misunderstand that players want good games, not platforms for gambling and microtransactions.
Revitalize live service games? They truly never learn do they?
Remember how digital copies were supposed to be cheaper because the cost of manufacturing and distribution is literally 0 compared to physical ones?
Single player games rule
Sony basically convinced to never buy a PS6 and switch over to PC.
Playing games since early 80s, this is the worst era of video games in my life.
We must continue to punish AAA hubris by keeping our money in our wallets.
This is basically built in obsolescence by getting rid of physical copies. Now they just pull the plug when the game stops making money and you are forced to buy a new game
When you hear “live service” think “battle pass and weekly cosmetics for real money”.
And also they are removing physical so they can fully control in digital and also can reduce the lose they got from concord and marathon
Sony may be a Japanese company, but the PlayStation/SIE entity is mostly operated out of California. And it shows.
Physical media should be a choice for customers.
Every company in the world is abandoning customers for AI like it's their savior.
