It has been such a stressful week dealing with the aftermath of the flood in the kitchen, but today feels like a real turning point. I’m finally getting stuck into the repairs, getting the new washing machine installed, and most importantly, making the space feel cosy and like home again. It’s amazing what a bit of styling and a deep clean can do for the soul. While things are getting back to normal inside, the garden is buzzing. I went to check in on the new swarm and they are settling in so well, so I decided to treat them to a beautiful new butter yellow hive. It looks so cheerful tucked away in the greenery. I’ve also been faffing about with the decor a little. I’ve taken down the curtains in my writing nook to let that lovely natural light pour in, but now I’m looking at the laundry area and wondering if a little fabric cover might be just the thing to hide the appliances. I’d love to know what you think about that, so do let me know your thoughts in the comments. As always, thank you so much for being here and following along with the ups and downs of life in the cottage. **In this vlog:** * Repairing the kitchen after the flood * Installing the new washing machine and styling the space * A new sunny yellow home for the bees * Making decisions about curtains in the nook Join this channel to get access to perks: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCcx0GWauE1_cQYSkk70y0YA/join 📚📚📚📚📚 Books 📚📚📚📚📚 I am delighted to announce that my second book, "Heart & Home" by Catherine Carton, is now available. Not an eyesore and not necessary. You do you and never mind people’s opinions!
The curtain looks very nice. You can also get a tension rod instead so as not to damage your curtain rod and you wouldn’t have to put holes in the walls. Happy summer.
Aesthetics is one thing, but convenience is another. To be accessing your fridge more than once a day and or doing laundry can become cumbersome. It's your house, and you know yourself & lifestyle. You decide.
I'm not team curtain. For ultimate air flow reasons, as you mention, and for practical reasons, schlepping laundry in and out and food as well. I love and appreciate utility as well as beauty, and utility can be beautiful. But the best thing is to try it and live with it and then you know for sure, right? Love your channel.
I certainly don’t see that as an eyesore! In fact the nook is part of your kitchen.
I think the way you have your washing machine and the shelf with all your stuff on is perfect. Cus your making the most out of what you have.
I like your table turn the way you have it today. It makes the room feel more spacious.
Is there nothing this girl can’t do 🥰
I have no problem with the nook. It is not an eyesore to me. I think it looks fine now and I think the curtains would look nice too.
I think it’s a👍for the curtain. It adds a nice softness to the area. The cottage is looking so cozy, Catherine.
You have a great “can do “ attitude. Like seeing what you are doing.😊
Curtains go great really like it❤,the view of your garden from the window is stunning 😍❤
I think the curtain will look nice but I also think it looks nice without it. I’m so glad that the water damage wasn’t bad. You deserve things to run smoothly from here on out 🤞. Hope you are having a lovely Sunday x
No to the curtain. Always a great video
Glad you're floor was ok Catherine I was so upset for you as no. How so hard you worked for it xxx❤
Your outside view is beautiful!
You are so positive and calm 😊which I love. 🥰
Thanks for the bee update - glad the ones you rescued last month are doing so well. Suggest wait on your laundry nook curtain decision until you get your new window treatments in place and can see the big picture then. 😊
So thankful everything dried so well. 🎉🎉🎉 Girl you get a workout with all your fixings!
Hey Catherine I do like the curtain there it just finished off & makes it cozy see you soon ❤
