The Krasue was a massive landmark event in Dead by Daylight's history and a massive success in terms of fidelity and representation. Everyone loved her and for a while, she was very popular. But what made her suddenly disappear from the trials and from the collective DBD mind? 00:00 The Krasue's Launch 03:24 Krasue's problematic PTB 05:22 Inevitable Nerfs & Consequences Watch live on YouTube: @OtzStreams Watch live on Twitch: https://www.twitch.tv/Otzdarva Join our community: http://discord.gg/Otzdarva My DBD info site: https://otzdarva.com/ Follow my Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/otzdarvayt/ Thumbnail art by: https://x.com/anapandemonium Chibi art by: https://x.com/C3_laTooth Music from the "Baba Is You" OST by Arvi Teikari

I feel she’s also got a bit of “Skull Merchant” syndrome too, where despite being nerfed and changed, people still view her as her old counterpart. Yesterday I was playing the event of all maps as her, and the survivors instantly gave up when they saw her, despite it being the notoriously survivor sided event, and on GARDEN OF JOY of all maps. I feel that could also be an interesting discussion or video, how the old states of killers such as Krause and Merchant impact how people see them today.
1:46 I like the little chibi's of the characters, they're very cute.
Absolute insane that Krasue went from perceived as underpowered on the PTB, while also overshowed by other changes, to one of the best/overpowered on release, then quickly nerfed into obscurity within basically a month period.
I really hope they add more like this, there is so many cool monsters from folklore all around the world that would be fun to have in dbd
Off topic kind of but the thumbnail’s art really got my attention. Shoutout to that artist cause wow
Hello Krasue this is friends
I really wish they leaned into another "infection" type killer like Plague, by that I mean being able to infect objects in the trial. The fact she has add ons for it means they probably thought about it too potentially
I wish the mushrooms ONLY spawned when switching forms that way you can choose to infect a ton of survivors before switching to head form, it would add a lot of ways to play her and make for an interesting power with lots of skill expression
I think the idea of leaving behind a mushroom whenever you go into head form is really interesting. On paper, it sounds very much like the philosophy of killers such as xenomorph or singularity who gain very strong powers but give survivors equally powerful counters, except this one is voluntary. Its in your control when and where you place the resource you give them so you have to be smart about your timings and use your power effectively to mitigate the amount of options you're giving them. And then in practice it just doesn't matter, because survivors already get so many mushrooms that it feels inconsequential.
If you like this style of retrospective videos, *we now have a dedicated playlist for them!!* : /playlist?list=PLNmaicYkxuUU&si=sHhq7z46aj5MaS6g Also there will be more like this in the future!!
Dang, the sad Krasue chibi portrait is making me want to buy her so bad rn 🥺
Proud to say i still love her
It'd make a lot of sense that Sinister Grace alone is why BHVR isn't doing any balance changes for new chapters anymore. They learned from their mistakes, but I strongly feel they took those lessons and went too far with them. I loved the Krasue and thought she'd have been mostly fine in the PTB if all the anti-everything changes were never conceived and her chapter was the core focus. Everything about her design hit all the right places like music, lore, voice acting, but nowadays her gameplay is an exception to that. Hopefully they'll take her kit and do wonders with stuff like mushroom macro and make her head form more unique. She has so much potential to be the best killer they've made in a long time, squandered by all the distractions from her PTB.
The mushroom (and infection) is a useless mechanic on her after the nerfs. Infecting anyone not in chase does barely anything and needing to infect someone to THEN be able to use your power on them is giving "Old Freddy vibes"
Krasue is an interesting character to me, because she's the right blend of easy and effective that I tend to gravitate towards. The reason why I don't play her though is because the fisheye lens effect that she has while using Headlong Flight gives me terrible motion sickness. I can't even watch other people play Krasue because of it.
This killer is actually a chore to play, you have to 1. Go Head form to find a survivor 2. Transform 3. Hit your spit on them 4. Transform again 5. Use your nerfed Intenstine attack
the artworks made for this vid are lovely!! thank you for commissioning human artists Otz!!
I spoke about this before: now that she's not the monstrously overpowered menace she was on release, there's just... no reason to play her unless you really like the character? The nerfs that were needed to drop her power level also made her absurdly clunky, the high density of dash Killers we've had in the past few years means that she's in the weight class of powerful, popular Killers like Ghoul, Blight and Dracula who appeal to that demographic of players more effectively, and hooks acting like mushrooms means that any potential for infection-spreading macroplay became largely irrelevant unless you just refuse to hook at all (which is why many of the few Krasue mains that still exist these days run slugging builds, because hooking punishes the Killer EXCEPTIONALLY hard). imo once Merchant gets sorted out, Krasue should be one of the next Killers on the docket for a Knight-sized power overhaul to more effectively deliver on the promises made by her very exciting design identity.
Regardless of future buffs or nerfs for Krasue, I 100% believe that the fungi should only spawn when she switched to head form, none should spawn naturally around the map
I've had an idea of how they could fix her. I think her biggest problem right now is that she's boring and doesn't do anything unique. Earlier Krasue had something unique though, mushroom management. Keeping track of where you planted your mushrooms and sometimes even going out of your way to plant them somewhere specific was an interesting skill to develop. My change would be to rework the Leached system and make mushrooms relevant again. Make head form inflict Leached 1, all that Leached 1 does is start a timer to enter Leached 2 where survivors can be damaged by head form. Subsequent head form attacks do not add to the timer. Remove the build-up to broken, being vulnerable to head form is already debuff enough. Hitting the projectile works as normal, you inflict Leached 2 and make them vulnerable to head form. Lastly, survivors come off the hook with Leached 1, meaning that they're not immediately vulnerable to head form, however they do still need to get a mushroom or they eventually will be. This change makes an entire half of her power relevant again but doesn't make her any better at tunneling than she already is.
