Dear Kasuku, I watched your recent show with Munyagwa, and while I agree that nobody wants to see an elderly lady arrested, we need to ask ourselves a fundamental question: what kind of country do we actually want to live in? Do we want a nation where citizens uphold the law, or do we let our country go to the dogs under the guise of divergent opinions? Having a different view is not a bad thing, but it becomes dangerous when it turns into rhetoric that incites the public. Miria Matembe should know better than anyone. Having served as the Minister of Ethics and Integrity, she carries a responsibility. Regardless of her age, was that really the best language for her to employ? She knows very well that our society is full of manipulators, gullible minds, and naive citizens. We must remember that when parents fail in a child's upbringing, it is the state's duty to step in and arraign them to maintain order. I want to be clear: I do not condone the violent ways people are often arrested. However, we owe it to our country—and you journalists especially owe it to the public—to be completely fair. As you berate the government, you must also call out the opposition and those who peddle malicious, unverified narratives. We cannot allow our society to degenerate into a place where people just spew unresearched claims without facts. There is a reason why the state has coercion as part of its legal apparatus. By all means, let us condemn government overreach. But we must also point out the ills of the opposition and the citizenry. Right now, there is a glaring double standard where opinion leaders aggressively condemn the state, but stay completely silent when rogue elements commit atrocities against the security organs who are simply trying to enforce law and order. As a programme moderator and a veteran journalist, it is incumbent on you and your peers to condemn wrongdoing whether it is carried out by the state, the opposition, or the general public. Otherwise, this one-sided blame gap remains glaring. You and the Munyagwas have a duty of speaking truth to power, but that must come alongside condemning the indiscipline perpetuated by the general public. Scrutiny must go both ways if we want real progress. By the way, I truly enjoy your shows. But unlike Munyagwa, who has to hide and watch, I simply cannot bring myself to watch a Bad Black episode. I concur with Kuku. Hon Munyagwa don't confuse us with the conspiracy theories about the DNA results. Clearly Hon Munyagwa has no idea what happens at either Wandegeya forensic and at Police forensics unit.
