Why can't we open our eyes underwater like mermaids

THATS why my eyes turned red, I blame the chlorine Edit: sorry, everyone is telling me that it’s the chlorine and peoples pee mixed together

I dive in and i can see in clear water

Pool water has chlorine. Your eyes typically dont enjoy having chlorine in them, so its fine if you arent comfy opening them in a pool

I lowk can see in the water It isnt crysyal clear but i can still see, just everything is more cloudy

I can only do that in pool water

chat it's not hard to just open your eyes underwater your eyes just can't properly focus because they evolved to see in air it's not even bad in salt water, it only hurts a lil when they start to dry
