Did anybody see that Dominos was mocking PlayStation by saying that starting in 2027 they were moving away from physical pizzas and towards digital pizzas where you could use your imagination to enjoy the pizza in a entirely digital sense lol

The bigger deal to me is the elimination of the secondhand market and monopolization of a storefront. I don't think people actually get what this means.

Physical games were the only thing keeping me on console. Congrats Sony, enjoy your extra few bucks per unit, I'll never give you another penny.

So let me see if I get this: >Sony is believed to be developing a handheld PS6 with the incentive to regain some of the market share lost to Nintendo in Japan. >Japanese people still buy more physical games than digital. >Sony announces they're ditching physical games for their consoles. Unless they later announce some other physical medium for the handheld I simply can't understand what they're thinking here.

As a life long console gamer (of over 30yrs)...I'm just switching over to just Nintendo and PC for the next generation. No point to stay with PlayStation or Xbox with the death of physical, especially with how expensive consoles are getting.

Digital games are convenient, and I understand why the industry is moving in that direction. A download is something I access. A physical game is something I treasure. I know I’ll always have the memories of midnight launches, hunting for rare editions, and watching my collection grow one game at a time. But there’s a quiet sadness in knowing that a tradition spanning my entire life is simply coming to an end. It feels like losing a small piece of who I am, a childhood hobby that never really stopped being magical until the day the world decided it no longer needed it.

The irony is that they are asking us to say goodbye to physical discs, but the price of SSDs, that you obviously need to maintain a large digital library, are literally in the thousands of dollars
