My take on this is that, an incoming player doesn’t have to be exactly the same profile as the player leaving or has to come with the expectation of filling the void of the “big name” player that left the position. Life is about moving on.. When Marcos Alonso left Chelsea, Chelsea fans knew the quality that was leaving ‘at the time’, and here we are today with Cucurella having left also. The point is, Cucurella wasn’t as good as this when he came to Chelsea, and we can all agree that Marcos Alonso did even more for Chelsea than Cucurella did. Having won the league with Chelsea also, with his immense abilities, he left and Chelsea moved on. Now another one is moving on, it’s simple… Who says the Pep coming won’t even be more instrumental in the coming years for Chelsea than Cucurella himself… So that’s it… A quality player is most times meant to move on, and it’s not everytime one is privileged to get an equal ‘big name’ replacement. So it’s still a good business.
