My grandpa used to go by “popcorn”… if anyone’s ever showed up at our door asking for “popcorn”, you know they’re an O.G. These nicknames typically come out of the military for one reason or another

I retired from the Navy in 1999. A couple of years ago, I drove from Florida to Georgia to the doorstep of an old shipmate whom I had found online. On his birthday, I rang his doorbell, and his daughter called back into the house for him. IT WAS AWESOME!!!

Nice! Once when we were headed out to breakfast after church, a hotel we passed by was advertising a reunion of my DAD’s OLD SEABEE UNIT. Of course we stopped there, and he reconnected with NUMEROUS men he’d lost touch with for decades. It happens. Glad these two got together.
