My grandmother's best friend fell and broke her leg, and while she was in the hospital recovering, the state came in sold her house without her knowledge and got rid of all her personal stuff. They put her in a nursing home , and it took her daughter , two years of court battles to even find out where her mother was. So believe it , this crap does happen in real life.

Happened to my parents neighbours. Random citizen (never identified) notified the department of health that they were struggling and had no family to lean on. Assessor comes out and declares them unfit. Assessor turns out to be the designated agent. Forces them into a home. Sells the cars and properties. Old man was active. Still had his wits. Just couldn't fight the govt greed.
