I love watching how you (Tara) respond to your children. When Crusoe wanted to help unload the stones, you complimented him on his kind offer before expressing concern for his safety and ultimately saying No. I think back to my time of parenting young children a long time ago and how I often jumped right to the No. Hopefully, I'll know how to respond a little more gently to grandchildren. It's about preserving the dignity of the person, as well as providing an answer.
Tara, you are very wise to point out that each place on this planet has beauty and wonder if only we look with open hearts and gentle eyes. You could start a stumpery garden as you have so much space. A shaded area and use the 100 year old stump as a start. You'd make a home for the all the lizards and frogs and little critters.
