Onay so i just looked it up... In the 2026 Lifetime thriller, The Couple Across the Street, the neighbor couple turns out to be unhinged doomsday preppers. They are definitely a "bad" couple in the sense that they lure their neighbors into an underground bunker, trapping them while waiting for society to collapse. Their intentions turn out to be highly dangerous, turning a lockdown into a harrowing survival situation.

Yeah, just stay in our underground bunker while we stay in the house that doesn’t sound sketchy at all. I was rooting for the old people until they said that.

So people don't seem to know what a bear trap actually does. Suffice it to say a small trap for a beaver or coyote is strong enough that no one featured here would be able to set it. Much less have an ankle that is "ok" after stepping in it. Now upgrade this experience to a bear trap. Something that is often set by driving a vehicle over the leaf spring that powers it. Something with teeth. And that person's lower leg would be just fine. By itself. While the person hobbles off to bleed out.

I’m a prepper living in the country. If I didn’t have a community that has each others back, I might set a few traps myself. The police can’t respond fast enough to help us so we have ways to keep safe. The elder couple involve themselves; we don’t. Reality is we reach out if we need help otherwise we are sufficient to help ourselves.

You can just set up really harmful traps in “the middle of nowhere” where others can get hurt and there’s no sign or gate line saying it’s your property.?

Hint.If you're stranded out in the wilderness and an elderly couple takes you in,do NOT take them up on an offer to relax with a glass of wine in their hot tub. Unless you want the last thing you'll ever see to be them pouring potatos, carrots and onions into the water as you helplessly sink below the surface. 😅

I don’t know if it’s in all states but I know there are some states where this is illegal and as the property owner you will be held legally liable it’s ok if you have clear signs saying bear traps are on your land no trespassing but you can not just put hidden traps all over because innocent people could get hurt contractors people who work for the city working on power lines if innocent people can get hurt your going to jail because a kid who doesn’t understand property lines could see no harm in going to get a ball that rolled into their yard and get split in two
