When I was a kid playing this on an old emulator, I assumed the phrase "I'm finished!" meant Pit had finished his task, rather than that he was dead. I kept jumping down holes and dying believing it was an endless score game.
1:04 Yes, this music was done by Hip Tanaka, who was THE NES MUSIC GUY in these few years of games. Wild Gunman, Duck Hunt, Balloon Fight, Metroid (like Dan mentioned!) as well as the Mother series and he STILL works at Creatures Inc. to this very day! He was also one of the small handful of developers behind the OG Gameboy!

I love how Kid Icarus in of itself is a bit of a rage game. And Dan's inability to save state is Arin's own little rage game.

To answer Arin's question about one instrument going up and one going down in music: there are various things it could be depending on the context, but when you are talking about voice leading (how you plan out what notes what instruments are playing in an arrangement) it is called "contrary motion". As opposed to parallel motion where the voices are moving together or oblique motion where one voice stays constant while the other moves.
