they could easily make it so the shelf mushroom works like a slab, if you place it in the top part of the block it acts like your example (centered higher on the block) and if you place it on the bottom of it, its like the original (centered in the middle of the block) this way we get a centered shelf block for when its on the side of a fallen tree like normal, but if its used in decorating it can be used as a decoration shelf... bonus feature it allows more variation to the block position
