The cemetery is worth visiting. Row after row, 21 October 1966 age 8, age 10, siblings, cousins. An entire town lost an entire generation.
Aberfan disaster. Absolutely horrific tradgedy. Gives me chills seeing the 111 ft mountain of mining spoil slide down and obliterate a village and 144 lives.
The fact that the people (companies) responsible for it got away with no consequences....

I remember the day it happened. Normal school day. Teacher comes back from tea-break white and shaking. Doesn't say anything. Then she pulled herself together and said 'We're going to pray for the children in Aberfan.' There are some days you never forget.
The very worst aspect that add to the already absolutely horrifying nature of this historic disaster is that it was the last day of school. One day later and they would have been at home, most of them out of the biggest danger zone, which was in fact the school territory
I can't imagine anything worse than the death of one of my living children. But to lose all of them, and all their friends too... Completely unfathomable.
When I first saw this scene, it completely broke me. I can’t imagine the agony of a parent.
The teacher faces the impending doom like a true soldier
I remember when it happened and it was as though the world stood still, grown men were sobbing in the streets not hysterically just heart wrenching sobs. Such heartache for so may. May it never happen again and may they rest in peace. Bless all who were direstly or indirectly affected by this terrible event.
Wales, 1966. I cry whenever I think of it.
My parents took us there in the 70s, whilst on holiday in Wales, in order to pay our respects. I remember my mum and grandmother sobbing at the time of the event.
The fact that there was no accountability or repercussions for the ones responsible is so disheartening and maddening, even after all this time.
And there was NOTHING THEY COULD DO! I could t imagine how they felt watching the hillside slide knowing what was going to happen..
There was no time to do anything else. It was also the only chance he could give them.
This was the first time I seen my stepfather cry that day when the schoolchildren died inAberfan we were all heartbroken here in Belfast poor little souls had no escape may they all rest in eternal peace ❤❤
Aberfan Wales disaster... Heartbreaking. 116 children dead. They didn't fine anyone a single penny nor give them a day in jail.
When I watch this on Netflix, I didn’t even know about this even happening. I had to look it up in the history books and it made me just cry to find out what happened to those children and two their teacher in my heart went out too the people in that town
