Finally the Link Edging video I've been waiting for.
1:52 "If we assume that Link is about 6 feet tall" that boy is 5'7 *at most*
Any Austin? No, I prefer this one
"if we assume Link is about 6 feet tall" is the craziest thing you've ever said
6:28 AUSTIN WATCH OUT THERE'S A GIANT BOULDER HEADING YOUR WAY phew that was close
Link isn't even 6ft tall on Tinder
I like how the edge of Gerudo desert (in BotW) has a sandstorm thar kicks up if you try leaving the map. Actually makes it feel like you're entering a dangerous region that acts as a natural barrier to travel rather than just an invisible wall (even though at the end of the day it is just an invisible wall).
"If we assume Link is 6ft tall..." Why would we assume that at any point ever.
5:09 Clock Town in OOT confirmed.
I love Austin's videos because I always get the vibe that he'd be wandering around the maps doing all this even without a youtube video. Like he's just super interested in video games and happens to share it with us:)
0:55 I’m pretty sure I made this background. I can tell cause I actually removed the elements in Photoshop, and the bottom left of the castle looks bad. I just checked against the actual title screen with the sprite removed, and yep the one you’re using is definitely mine. Sorry for that, LOL. I made a way better one later.
If Link is 6 feet tall then Zelda is canonically a 6'8" dommy, that's all i wanted to add
19:18 I actually think it might be because they were worried that people would confuse it as traversable. I know when I ran across it for the first time, I assumed I could maybe cross it like the other canyons in the game. How out of place it felt did make me stop and question it... before I jumped to my death.
I actually really like that weird canyon in BoTW/TotK, because there's a bunch of weird magic stuff all over that world that just kinda never gets explained, so having this weird carved out chunk of the world that seems to maybe just kill you if you touch it is super compelling.
13:50 That's the White-Gold Tower at the center of the Imperial City in Cyrodil. So that is a representation of a place you can actually go, just not in this game. And technically, you visit it 200 years in the past in Oblivion.
As a Californian, the idea of an endless ocean that's so big it might as well be a brick wall is totally normal to me
Clock town? Kakariko? same thing...

I kind of like BotW's canyon. It makes it look like there's an actual, mysterious world out there and Hyrule is it's on it's own, separated from the rest of the world. And even though they finally mention far off places in these games, like Sidon's wife Yona, Hyrule does feel like it's own world considering it was made by the goddesses to guard the Triforce. I kind of see Hyrule like a garden of Eden, always disconnected from the rest of the world, guarding the Triforce in an endless cycle. For now, so far. It would be cool to see more, maybe it's even more advanced out there.
Don’t forget the most baffling world border in Tears of the Kindgom: the one mountain on the west that Link ostensibly Could climb and is even on the map and yet you get told you can’t climb it for some reason
