Hey hi hello! This dress has been haunting the walls of my Pinterest for over a year now, but seeing as I am a cheap-a** b**ch, I didn't want to pay $300 for it. SOOOooo, why not do some stash-busting and make it out of the lacy curtains I already have? (and a bedsheet!) I love you all most ardently, see you soon! I think the morality of copying is very different if you're making one garment for yourself, not making a tutorial or selling a pattern, as well as just the natural differences that will occur in fabric and materials. Fair use seems to cover this kind of copying. Excited to see how it turns out for you!
I'm in my 60s. I've seen a version this dress literally thousands of times throughout my life. You aren't copying anything that hasn't been copied a million times over, that THEY most likely copied themselves.
Let's be clear: it is not morally grey to recreate clothes you have seen elsewhere - never has been, never will be. What is considered unethical is to sell reproductions of the product (or pattern if the product you were copying is a sewing/knitting/crochet pattern), or products from a pattern without the designers express permission. Whoever has been saying that simply reproducing clothes for your own personal use is """morally grey""" is a goddamn numpty.
I'm enjoying the slower content pace! When you are only making one item we get more details about how you made it, so it feels more educational :)
RACHEL/FRODO! I had an Irish Setter who had a similar problem and a therapist suggested letting her swim in a heated swimming pool - we had tremendous SUCCESS! Though, due to age, she never regained totally, she improved close to 90% of her movement and lived out a happy, playful and loving life! BIG ❤ to FRODO! Sending TONS of positive vibes your way! - Mark P
Love this concept and I do not think it is morally grey to recreate designs for yourself. Women have been recreating finished garments for as long as finished garments have been around!
13:57 I'm am LIVING for these small, no music, just nature interludes you've been including in your videos lately. You are a breath of fresh air on the internet, thanks for being you ❤✨
I want to give a shoutout to the work it must've taken to synch the scissors with the rythmn of the music. It was one of the most beautiful editing I've seen this year.
The Amazing Rachel Maksy! Saving us from fast fashion one pair of curtains at a time 🥰
In Massachusetts there are Canine Rehabilitation centers and as much of a pain in the neck PT can be I've seen some amazing work done with water treadmill therapy and laser therapy. I say this as a former vet tech where we did physical therapy at the beach/rivers and we had a laser thing. We had a bunch of double ACL tears and Meniscus tears where they rehabed amazingly well after therapy.
I have never been this early. FINALLY YouTube is showing me what I'm obsessed with immediately.
OMG, the idea of going to Paris during this heatwave...and I live in France so good luck.
I rarely comment but I’ve been watching for years, I prefer to lurk but I just wanted to say that this video is very cozy. Of course I understand wanting to do multiple projects in one video but I do love watching the process of making a single garment or a little guy and having a chat <3
I just have to say. The potato Collins shirt paired with those star pants…*chef kiss* Plus SNAIL CLIP!
Hope you're having a wonderful time in Paris! Don't melt in the heat wave!
It was very good to see little mans getting around a bit. Please tell him we love him. We love Pippin too. She got so big fast. The dress looks cute.
11:08 GIRL! How many times do we have to tell you, we like watching your videos no matter what you make or how many you make! I would watch a video of you mending a seam and just chatting. Relax, enjoy what you're making and your content will be great! ❤
I prefer the slower pace! I love it when you’re able to really take your time and make amazing garments like this one! ❤
The videography in this video was so beautiful and soothing, it felt like getting secondhand smoke of nature but in like a good way. Also to repeat the masses, I think it was morally and ethically fine. And it came out gorgeous!
Pip looks adorable with the lace on top of her!! Also, slower content is it for me
