My thought is always that a kid on a rural farm with no internet should still be able to install and play the game they bought the disk for.

Basically selling a $20 DLC for a game that doesn't even have a gameplay trailer is so fucking insane I can't believe it

hey chat CEO here - wanted to clarify a bit that I didn’t discuss enough in the vid. When I was talking about pre-ordering the game for pre-loading purposes to play it right when it comes out - I meant like days before the game comes out and not motivated by any dumbass bonuses before we’ve actually seen any real gameplay- HOWEVER - by pre-ordering at all, even 24 hours before, I would still be reinforcing the sales/data for pre-orders/bonuses and I would still be part of the problem! So I think people are valid in pointing out that conflict. I think it’s the push/pull between wanting to play something as soon as I can but not wanting to support shitty business practices. Anyways - thanks for watching and discussing and engaging in thoughtful ways. the ultimate edition can get bent

Ive been seeing many people saying stuff like “youve had 13 years to save up $100”. Thats a level of willingness to be manipulated that I genuinely can’t fathom

The *base* game is $130 here in australia. And the 'deluxe' is $150. That doesnt even equate to currency conversion theyre just outright charging us more.

If the past 15 years of gaming history gave taught me anything, it's that there is literally no bar low enough for quality that gamers will not still fork over their literal lunch money to buy, and there is no amount of abuse you can possibly dole out that will stop them from consuming all the product. It's wild.

13 years ago totalbiscuit made a video called "Should you preorder videogames?" where he went on a 20 minute rant about how awful the practice of preordering is and how us consumers need to stop doing it or it will only embolden companies. I listened to that message ever since until one day I thought to myself "no way cd projekt red will fuck up cyberpunk 2077!" and then pre-ordered it like a goddamn imbecile. Never again.

"if they dont need to produce discs, then overall production will be cheaper and savings will trickle down to the consumer" -80-100 price tag indefinitely, no used market, never on sale.

My biggest fear is that locking game content behind an 'Ultimate Edition' becomes the norm and that standard releases effectively become 'lite' versions of the games Edit: okay jeez fine you don't need to be so aggressive over a youtube comment, i don't play ubisoft or rockstar sludge so sorry if this is a foreign concept to me

Pirating this game is the only way to actually know you have a copy in your possession that cannot be taken from you.
