Sometimes it's too late to repair the pain caused.

Kids don’t wake up one day and turn on their parents. She wants sympathy in her old age probably because she feels guilty or wants to be taken care of. Being a parent doesn’t mean you traumatize your children then expect them to welcome you back into their lives.

He was definitely abandoned by her and now she’s coming back like nothing ever happened. Sad

Leaving him for 25 years is good enough reason to not answer the door, he has no obligation to see her if she hurt him like that

That's cold for treating one's own mother like that, but we don't know their story, so I am not going to judge him. Still, it's very sad.

As a traumatized son myself I completely respect his decision my mother may have been in my life, but after I became an adult, she was no longer my mom because the physical and emotional abuse she put me through

What kinda parent was she when her son was growing up? I tried to mend my relationship with my father (who put me in the hospital several times when I was little) so my son can be part of my side of the family but all he did was disparage me. In 2017 he totally ignored my existence when I flew across country with my son for my brother’s wedding. That was the last time I had any contact with him. When he died, I didn’t feel a thing. Flip side my son (31) tells me all the time that I’m his rock. He loves coming home and spending time with me. I became the parent I wished I had.

Some wounds don't heal. Who knows what his childhood was like, don't judge the son!!

My mom was sick and I went to connect with her after a few years and even the death bed won't make them change. He did right.

This is how my mother treated me. I would knock on her door she wouldn’t open her door for me. When my sister died the family was at my mother house. I went by there they let me knock and not open the door. I never knew why my mother never liked me or just couldn’t love me. She just passed away. I went to her funeral and I didn’t feel a thing. I wasn’t sad I didn’t cry because I really didn’t know her. I been on my own since I was 18 years old. I did good for myself I finished College stayed grounded and lived a quiet life. I look up to the sky and Thank God for watching after me.

Y’all need to realize what it takes for a son to hate his hero

With ZERO doubt …. A man wouldn’t cut off his own mother without a very good reason!!!! He clearly set boundaries to protect Not only himself but his son as well. RESPECT BOUNDARIES!!!!!
