Nah, as an American (and especially one who has travelled with a chair bound person) that's egregious. He demanded a tip?!? Sure he tried to be coy about it, but it was passive aggressive. That's crazy, he's being paid a proper wage, he's not working in a taxi or a restaurant. Just wtf?

Fortunately, some airlines now have multiple designations of what assistance is needed. I need wheelchair assistance (unless using my mobility scooter), which often is a check box of the different assistance options needed, including if you need wheelchair assistance once on the plane. But I have been shaken down for a tip, which was scary.
