Star Fox (2026) reviewed by Jada Griffin on Nintendo Switch 2. Despite knowing nearly all Star Fox 64’s shortcuts and secrets for close to 30 years now, this remake’s impressive coat of paint and compelling new cutscenes made me smile like I just did my very first barrel roll. Finding hidden routes to unlock different stages or small optimizations to push my score sky high is still much deeper than it first appears, keeping the brief campaign runs fun across multiple playthroughs. And while the new Challenge mode and revamped multiplayer don’t go quite as far as I’d like in terms of content or creativity, they are still amusing ways to shake things up once you’ve exhausted every alternate route. Given the decade-long drought since the disappointment that was Star Fox Zero in 2016, Nintendo was wise to return to Star Fox’s best game in order to revitalize this 33-year-old series, and has reached a new peak for it in doing so. Hopefully this is just the beginning for Fox McCloud, because Nintendo has proven the Arwing isn’t out of style quite yet.

My father was not a huge gamer but he absolutely loved star fox 64 and had a 100% completion save. I used to watch him play and to this day I'm still not as good as he was and I've never unlocked the sunglasses for fox after beating expert mode. Dad commited suicide back in 2010 and wow... this remake would blow his mind. I wish you were here to see it. I still have your favorite sunglasses... Just like fox. I promise I'll 100% this game for you dad ❤
Now they just need actually advance the story for the next game
They gave it an 8
I hope that after this we finally get a retelling of star fox 2
9:30 For verdict.
I would have liked a 4 Player Co-op singleplayer experience where each player was a member of the team and had intersecting rails along a common path like how the team already flies, could have made for very interesting perspectives. But still excited to play this, now if we could just get a F-Zero X (20XX) too...
Love that Slippy is doing the review. Love it.🥰
It shocked me when at the end it was revealed that the whole game was all Myamoto as a kid playing with some dead animals he found on his backyard.
Now wee need star fox 65
Fiiiine. I'll play Star Fox 64. Again.
Metroid is saved, Starfox is saved... now we only need to bring back F-Zero!
As someone who has never played starfox 64, this is essentially a new game for me and I am stoked to get into it
I just want a star fox assault remaster😭😭😭
Tempted to preorder and I don’t even have a switch 2 yet
I love StarFox, been with me since it launched on the SNES when I was 6, blew my little kid mind. I am pushing 40 now, I have two 5 YO kids of my own, I am stoked to share this with them and hopefully they feel that same sense of joy and wonder I did. Let's rock and roll
I haven’t played this campaign since the N64 days so looking forward to jumping back in
