Jez the strings in the duvet cover are supposed be tied to the actual duvet. The duvet should have loops on the corners that you tie it around. That way it’s easier to put inside and the duvet inside won’t slide around.

Yo you could put some vinyl wrap on the doors to your bedroom, it could add some colour and would be pretty easy and renter friendly
