When brazil got flogged in the World Cup semifinal 7-1 it was the death of Brazilian football as we knew it. Flair was out and discipline was in. The flick, back heel, mid game juggling and position less football was gone.

Modern Brazilian players come from more comfortable backgrounds than before. There are very few players from the favelas (the slums/hood) where dribbling and general flair is developed but modern players are overcoached because they start playing football in club academies.

Before you had young Brazilians playing in Brazil before they come to play in Europe. They learned their Brand of football home before going to Europe. I mean Cafu was 27, Rivaldo was 24, Roberto Calros was 22 when they left home. Now most of them leave before they're 20

Pep’s introduction of strict tactical input and discipline killed Brazilian football but more so has allowed an abundance of nations to be able to compete against the most talented countries. This World Cup we are seeing underdogs compete because everyone has the ability to at least press regardless of talent.

Its not just Brazil. Not many players that love to take on other players with a bit of skill or flair anymore because the managers obviously tell them not to because its not an optimal tactic. We need more Neymars, Ronaldinhos, Hazards, Okochas, Quaresmas in the game, they lit up the pitch.

After 7x1 we (I’m Brazilian) realized we were falling behind a lot in tactics. We have the talent, but tactics and hard work caught up. Now we are intensively trying to level up the tactics. But we still have our DNA, I believe as soon as we find a way to balance things out, that flair will come back again.

Seen the Pele documentary? Brazil didn't want to play him, because he was so skillful they wanted to play like European football. It was only because Pele was so amazing that they reverted to samba football

The world cup was something else years ago because you suddenly saw all these incredible players that you just didn't see in England. Watching the 82 Brazil team is still my favourite world cup memory. And Maradona in 86. Just amazing
